David Barton: Hate is a virtue
Seriously, he said that.
Mr. Barton is rapidly making the transition from deranged to evil.

I know some far far far right wing Christians who believe such evil things that it occurred to me tonight that any God who actually rewarded their ideology is more like a demon than anything else.
These are people who think that tithing should be the only taxation, that all secular charity comes from Satan to thwart the church's work. People who are so radically greedy that they don't care that church charity is ineffective, don't care about anyone but themselves, they've been promised heaven for a 10% tithe and not for the infinitely more effective, larger tax burden, therefore the taxes are evil...
A God who would reward their attempts (though the tea party) to starve the elderly, let them die without medicine etc, would be a God who rewards monsters.

They also talk about "protecting our European heritage" as code for their racism

I liked the way he made hating Nazis equivalent to hating liberals, all in a couple of sentences. Of course, what he really means is it's ok to hate anyone who doesn't agree with the world view of David Barton.

At least he's honest I guess. Doesn't try to sugarcoat his hate as "Christian love." But then again comparing hating Nazis to hating liberals is really fucked up. And yet I bet you if someone on the left made the same moronic equivalency, the same people who want us to take Barton seriously would cry bloody murder.
